Om dette albumet
Rush: Geddy Lee (vocals, bass, synthesizer); Alex Lifeson (acoustic & electric guitars, synthesizer); Neil Peart (drums, percussion). Digitally remastered by Bob Ludwig. When Rush first began in the early '70s, the Canadian trio had a sound comparable to that of Led Zeppelin. However, as time went on, Rush developed a style that was clearly its own. On albums like 2112, A FAREWELL TO KINGS, and HEMISPHERES, the band merged the instrumental virtuosity of prog-rock with the brute strength of heavy metal. The results were worldwide breakthrough success. With 1980's PERMANENT WAVES, Rush began to streamline its sound, incorporating elements of the new wave sound (Talking Heads, The Police, etc.) and synthesizers. RETROSPECTIVE, VOL. II (1981-1987) picks up where the first volume left off, featuring choice cuts from MOVING PICTURES through HOLD YOUR FIRE. There's no denying the greatness of such perennial rock radio staples as Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Red Barchetta, Subdivisions, and New World Man, as well as the oft-overlooked album tracks Analog Kid and Body Electric. RETROSPECTIVE, VOL. II (1981-1987) shows how Rush was able to retain a serious following without overlooking the importance of songwriting.
