Bonnie Raitt's debut displayed her strong, bluesy voice and fine slide guitar style. As a favorite on the New England folk scene, she had played alongside blues legends like Mississippi Fred McDowell and Sippie Wallace (whose Mighty Tight Woman and Women Be Wise she covers here). Aided by Chicago blues players like Junior Wells and A.C. Reed, her first album was a critical success.
